El Carmelo de Mindo

Hosteria El Carmelo de Mindo is a Ecuadorian-run lodge, nested in the beginning of the cloud forest, one of the most important, diverse and endangered habitats in the world. Many species lived in this valley known as the “ The valley of the eternal spring” some of them are recognized, because of their beauty and importance within the habitat that they belong.

Found only a few hours from the capital and at the base of the western slopes of Pichincha, the Mindo-Tambillo cloud corest (1,200) is a subtropical paradise with temperatures ranging from 15º to 24º Celsius (59º to 75º F). Here you will find the Hosteria El Carmelo de Mindo, located among five rivers conveniently located just outside the village.

Activities

White water tubing has become an unique experience in Mindo. You can feel this emotion through a hour of trip in the tubes and water. This activity is safe because visitors wear life jacket, helmets and experts guides that know the river very much. 

If our visitors are lovers of the nature, and they want to observe the great variety of birds that exists in this area, el Carmelo can help them with our guides to observe several places in Mindo where concentrates the most representative species. We also have transportation service if necessary.

All the activities that are carried out in the Carmelo, are dedicated to the amusement, education and knowledge of the forest. We have 32 hectares witch are for realization of several activities. Our visitors can choose among: White water tubing, Mountain Biking. Horse back riding, trip to the Cascade of the Nambillo, Trip to the protective Forest Mindo Nambillo, Trips to the Orchid’s House and Cáligo Butterfly farm. All these activities have the necessary equipments, likewise we have local guides and well-experience guides for bird watching.

Accommodations

The services and facilities that we have in our lodge are special and very comfortable. Also, they have been built with materials that are found in the area. You will have the opportunity to rest in our cabins and rooms, built wooden, its roof is made of straw. All posses private bathroom and hot water.

The water of our cabins comes from a natural and crystalline source. Moreover ours cabins and rooms are surrounded of gardens and plants, those are the complement for a total rest.

Diving: The restaurant of the Carmelo de Mindo is a wide, and welcoming place. You can enjoy several types of Ecuadorian food. Also we have menu of special food for vegetarians and other classes of dietary needs. Our restaurant has Cable TV, Filter of purification of water and a cafeteria.
