Carondelet Palace

The Government Palace or Carondelet is an architectural jewel of the city of Quito, located in the Historic Center, in the Plaza de la Independencia, where the monument to the heroes of August 10, 1809 is erected.

The first headquarters was built in 1563, due to earthquakes at the time the building suffered several damages. The readjustment of the Government Palace was designated to the president of the Royal Audience of Quito, Barón Luis Héctor de Carondelet, in 1799. The structure has received various internal and external modifications to arrive at the current construction of the presidential house.

In 2007, the Carondelet Palace opened its doors to national and foreign tourists so that they can learn part of the history of the presidents of Ecuador, as well as visit the Yellow Room or Presidents Room, Banquet Hall, Oratory, Cabinet Room .
