La
Cartuja, is set in a very priviledged location. It's only five minutes
away from Avenida Amazonas, the most lively avenue in Quito and a mecca
for shoppers, yet it is located in the peaceful heaven of a quiet
residential street.
Nearby are the Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana, El Ejido park, the American
and French embassies and the South American Explorers Club. The historic
old town section is within walking distance. |
Description & facilities: La Cartuja is a charming and exclusive hotel. The hotel, which formerly
was the site of Great Britain's embassy, is a neocolonial style house and
it has a unique Spanish style green courtyard. There are only a few of
these courtyards left in Quito and La Cartuja has been declared a cultural
heritage site.
It
took us over a year to restore the house. We worked to combine the
traditional and sober style of the house with a cozy decoration. We chose
pastel colours like yellow, blue and white to create a warm and relaxing
atmosphere.
In addition, we designed all our furniture combining
wood and Spanish ceramic to resemble the colonial times. We have put our
hearts and souls into every corner and detail of the house so that when
our guests visit, they feel at home.
All our rooms are spacious and enjoy natural light.
They have white ceilings and moldings, and the original wooden floors from
colonial times. Each has a private bathroom with hot water, telephone, TV
and a safety deposit box. |
