The Casa del Alabado is located in the Historic Center of Quito, it is one of the oldest houses in the area, the exact date of its construction is uncertain, but it is presumed that it was between the years 1530 and 1670.
The house has undergone several architectural modifications, due to its extension and privileged location, it can be deduced that it belonged to families or entities of high social and economic position at the time of the Spanish foundation.
The intervention and restoration of the Casa del Alabado led to the transformation of the building into the Pre-Columbian Art Museum, which was inaugurated in April 2010, and houses around 5000 archaeological pieces inside, made up of objects that were produced by the oldest societies in Ecuador. 7,000 years BC, until the arrival of the Spanish around 1530 AD
