La Merced church
The original structure was also built in the 16th
century; but it was modified and reconstructed in the 18th century to
repair damages made by several earthquakes. In the set, including the
monastery, outstands the tower with it's steeple formed by seven bells
figuring the music scale. The bell in the middle, so called “Nuestra
Madre”, is fused in gold, silver, brass and zinc, and was inaugurated in
september 1789. |
